Feast at the Palace

Wouldn’t I just love to have a food fest right about now! I do, I honestly do… always.

I love food! I absolutely love food, although I don’t remember having always loved food. I was a skinny child. I did learn to love food, probably when I hit adolescence, while living in Zambia.

This is another long overdue post, being part of the posts on The Palace. This is the The Palace post on food. I did mention when I first posted about the hotel that we were heading out to High Tea.

It might be that High Tea isn’t a proper meal but surely scones and cakes are food, too. I can eat cake for breakfast, lunch, supper and any time in between. Okay, I could be exaggerating a little. However, I can have this High Tea every afternoon.

What tea to drink

Obviously, I could have wished for the High Tea to keep going but it ends at 5 o’clock. I would suggest start early, when it opens at 3 o’clock. That way, there is no need to rush and the 2 hours may be enough.

To truly enjoy the mouth-watering spread, opt for a light lunch either at The Palace Pool DeckΒ  or at The Tusk Bar before High Tea.

The Palace Pool Deck is just right for a relaxed lunch out in the sun. The pool is a sparkling crystal and simply gorgeous. The magnificent hotel is the backdrop and one cannot ask for a better one. It is unquestionably picture-perfect.

The Tusk Bar is as relaxed as The Palace Pool Deck. The couches suited our mood. We wanted to laze around. The food serving seems a lot for a light lunch but that could be for women only. My man comfortably managed his huge burger.

Once the memory of High Tea and fullness of the stomach start to fade, it is but reasonable to start thinking about dinner at The Grill Room.

I like The Grill Room. It looks formal and serious, even “old” and boring, but it is warm. The chairs are super comfortable. The service is excellent, which I would suppose is in line with the high standards of the hotel. Most importantly, the food is utterly delectable.

The place was quiet as it was rather late already. We didn’t have to feel embarrassed to take the usual pictures I insist on having.

I do love food, especially good food, so when I can’t finish what I order, it is imperative to take doggie bag. They did wrap my one piece of pork belly so nicely that my little princess had to be the one to carry it upstairs to our room. I didn’t know when or how I was going to eat this leftover but I was not going to waste it. There is always midnight snack!

We left The Grill Room satisfied and happy. It is a great choice for dinner.

    1. A pleasure, Ronel. Thank you for visiting, for the like and feedback. I do love high tea for the food and time with girl friends. If you’re in the Johannesburg area, I think Michelangelo is always a safe bet. 😊

    1. Haha! Half of the dinner was not eaten; midnight snack. πŸ™‚ It’s amazing. I love that we can also enjoy the best in the world.
