Playing catch up

Any other time, I would have cowered and silently disappeared into the night but I am now too old to play that game so I am being the adult that I am and I stand here before all of you asking to be excused for my unexpected, albeit self-imposed, hiatus. I am officially back from hibernation just in time for Spring in a week’s time. Seven days should suffice to prepare me to be my cheerful, carefree, sunshiny bright self.

And here is how I plan to catch up…

Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenges!

Around the corner

Have you seen this baby gracefully gliding as it takes the corner? It is a beauty!

Cars (1)

I love cars. They’re those things that make go “Ooh… aah…!” when they whizz swiftly before me. The car (above) is definitely the better thing to see on a street corner than a ‘lady’, right? But, sometimes, I do stand on the road side, not far from the corner.

Traveling–road trips included–gives me a whole lot of satisfaction many things can’t.

More often than not, we encounter the unusual when we travel.

Then, there are those that demand attention!

Ooh, shiny!

Cars are one of my ‘shiny’ stuff that distract me without fail. I am almost like a man in a woman’s body. I don’t know much about engines and horsepower and all that but I do appreciate power. I have also learned to love the rotary engine.

My baby no more

There are a lot more cars I wish I had or at least I could take for a spin. When I find them, I steal shots of them. πŸ™‚

Cakes are my ‘Ooh, shiny’ stuff, too

But, even better than cars and cakes are SHOES! They are not only ‘shiny’ to me but I can drool over them, especially my favorite Jimmy Choo.

Shoe Love Affair

The last time I got myself Jimmy Choo shoes (I only had two pairs), I got them from a friend who was in Europe. This time, I ordered online as Jimmy Choo had a sale. It was delivered direct from the UK to South Africa. This was a momentous event for someone with a shoe love affair, especially with Jimmy. I was so ecstatic and excited about my new babies that I did not notice at all that hubby bought a new big screen UHD TV that could have bought another pair of Jimmy–on normal price!

However, my best ‘shiny’, that which can never be ignored by yours truly is appropriate ‘above’: the sky, with its sunset and moonlight and clouds. I’m like a crazed paparazzi when the sky beckons.

Sunsets and sky

Sky - Sunset
On my way home from work, I had to stop at Cedar Square to capture the sky on fire. Most magnificent, for sure!

Elemental enough? And I am sure that if you look hard enough you will find those varying textures somewhere. πŸ™‚

Too much?

It’s a catch up. πŸ™‚

Good night to all of you, from me and sunny South Africa!

  1. Hmmm… you see cars are very expensive in our little red dot so it isn’t high on our agenda. We spend so much time outside of the country anyway, so it does not make sense to keep one in the parking lot… but yeah they are sure many oooh ahhhs in our little red dot!

  2. Innovative way in which to catch up with all the challenges πŸ˜„ This is a great collection of happy memories. Being an ex-Freestater, I must admit to a sentimental sob or two over those Clarens / Bethlehem photos.

  3. For one of other reason the Jimmy Choo’s choose not to look good on my feet – quite a disappointment, but Jimmy certainly chooses to look good on your feet. What does he have against me? Impressive food and cars nearly as impressive as the person sitting on the car!

  4. Anne, I enjoyed your creative approach for catching up with the Photo Challenges. It’s more efficient than the route I’ve been taking… one at a time. Perhaps I will give a try at your idea… fun to read. The sunsets look breath-taking πŸ˜ƒ
